Video Description
On a summer morning in 1994, after writing his first two spoken word pieces, Ozzie Rea (aka MC O), literally left his Encinitas, California apartment with the intent of becoming a rock star. He would later learn being a rock star is not what is important in life, it is being a good person, nonetheless, the first person he met was John Butler who was playing a beautiful song entitled Best Friend. Ozzie asked John if he wanted to start a band, he said "Yes!" They blew up fast having their first show reviewed and the rest is history. John was in Vitamin for about a year before he returned to Australia.
Ozzie later followed John to Australia right in time for the release of John's first album. Ozzie would perform spoken word in between band sets. A popular funk band named Proton saw this and asked Ozzie to be their rapper/frontman. While Ozzie was in Australia he won several awards and co-wrote the song Earthbound Child with John and was given the name MC O.
Ozzie then moved to Seattle where he formed the band Uncle Fiesta with Yarri Brozyna (aka Earthworm), Jazz Turnbow (aka Funkzilla) and Taro Taylor. Several tracks from the new album include the members of Uncle Fiesta.
Ozzie moved back to Austin and formed MCO and the Flong All Stars which included Ryan West aka Blue Monkey.
Ozzie hosted the Open Mic at Ruta Maya in Austin for 5 years and the Flong All-Stars provided back up. Many careers were jumpstarted and Ozzie played with many great musicians, like Duane Jackson (aka D Madness), Mike Rubin, Drew Howard, Brad Massengill (aka Unk), and more.
Vitamin is a mix-mash of songs recorded with an array of fellow musicians that Ozzie has played with over the years which happen to be some of the best musicians on the planet. The current album is being produced by Grammy award winner Charles Dickerson (aka Mono/Poly)
